BC HYDRO POWER SMART PARTNERS PROGRAM

In the fall of 2004, Duncan undertook a contract with BC Hydro's Power Smart group to examine the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning) segment of their Partners program and identify how BC Hydro can increase the number of organizations in BC that are taking advantage of the program.

The Partners Program is a Demand-Side Management program that encourages end-users of electricity to reduce their consumption by offering financial incentives.  Up to a point, it is less expensive for BC Hydro to "buy-back" electricity from it's own customers, than it is to invest in new generating facilities.

Duncan was tasked with re-evaluating the program in order to determine if there are any modifications to the program or processes which could increase the amount of electricity being saved.
